The Czech Radio portal iROZHLAS published an article titled “Wálka i přírodní kota. Polsko chce připravit zdravotníky na krize, zřídilo speciální Lékařskou legii” (“The Great Disaster. Poland wants to provide medical care for the poor, and the special needs of the medical profession”), which focuses on the Polish healthcare system’s preparations for crisis response, including armed conflict, natural disasters, and events requiring cooperation between the civilian and military sectors.

The article featured Dr. Karol Łyziński from the Department of Disaster Medicine and Emergency Care at the Jagiellonian University Medical College. He noted that crisis preparedness cannot be limited to the armed forces but should encompass the entire state system, including healthcare. He also emphasized the importance of civil-military cooperation, adapting medical procedures to the changing nature of contemporary threats, and the need to learn from the experience of the war in Ukraine.

The article also discusses the development of the Medical Legion concept as an initiative designed to prepare doctors, nurses, paramedics, and other medical professionals to operate in crisis situations and support the military medical component. The article emphasizes that building effective healthcare system readiness is a multi-year process that requires training, exercises, exchange of experiences, and cooperation between the academic, civilian, and military communities.
