On February 24-25, 2026, Dr. Karol Łyziński from the Department of Disaster and Emergency Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, Jagiellonian University Medical College, participated in the specialized Hybrid Decon Train-the-Trainer training, which took place in the United States.
The training focused on advanced principles of hybrid decontamination—an approach that combines elements of dry and wet decontamination to increase the effectiveness of this process in CBRNE events. The program included both theoretical components and intensive practical sessions, with a particular emphasis on organizing the decontamination process, personnel safety, and optimizing operations in resource-constrained environments.
The “train-the-trainer” format allows participants not only to improve their own competencies but also to implement and conduct training in medical and emergency environments. The experience gained will be utilized in the Department’s teaching and training activities, particularly in the area of medical support for CBRNE events. Participation in the training is an element of systematic improvement of the qualifications of the Department’s staff in the field of modern standards of decontamination and response to CBRNE threats in the context of medical operations.
