National Medical Rescue Championships for State Fire Service Firefighters

The National Emergency Medical Services Championships for State Firefighters of the State Fire Service took place from September 18th to 20th, 2025. They were organized by the State Fire Service Headquarters in cooperation with, among others, the Jagiellonian University Medical College. One of the tasks, prepared by the Department of Disaster Medicine and Emergency Care, was carried out on September 19th in our unit’s simulation rooms.

The scenario covered the medical treatment of a person exposed to a CBRNE agent, with an emphasis on key life-saving medical procedures and dry decontamination. The task was a simulation and conducted in conditions as close to real-life as possible. Dr. Karol Łyziński was the coordinator and author of the scenario.

For many years, the Department has been providing teaching and expert advice in the field of disaster medicine, with a particular emphasis on CBRNE threats. These competitions provide a valuable opportunity to practically implement knowledge and strengthen interoperability between emergency services. We would like to thank the organizers for the opportunity to cooperate and contribute substantively to the implementation of this important event.
