Conference “Health Security – Challenges, Innovations, Future”

On April 8, 2025, a representative of the Department of Disaster Medicine and Emergency Care, Dr. Karol Łyziński, had the honor of participating in the conference “Health security – challenges, innovations, future” organized in Krakow by the Ministry of Health as part of the Polish Presidency of the EU Council. The conference was held in the Auditorium Maximum of the Jagiellonian University.

During the conference, key issues related to health security were discussed, including:

  • Cross-border threats to public health,
  • The effects of climate change, urbanization and migration on public health,
  • Demographic challenges for health care systems, including the availability of medical staff,
  • Cybersecurity as a challenge of digitization,
  • Building the resilience of the health care system by ensuring drug safety and patient access to medicines.

Particular attention was paid to innovations in the field of health, which are crucial for the future of health care systems. Innovative technological solutions were discussed that can improve the quality of health care, increase the efficiency of operations and provide better access to medical services. These innovations include, among others: development of telemedicine, digitalization of medical records and application of artificial intelligence in diagnostics and treatment.

Health in crisis situations and armed conflicts was also discussed. The essence of crisis phenomena related to human health and the entire population and the functioning of the health care system in such conditions were discussed. This topic also constitutes the area of ​​activity of ZMKIPD.

The conference gathered representatives of governments, experts and stakeholders who shared their experiences and good practices in the field of health security.
