Exercise Joint Patrol 25

On April 4-11, 2025, tactical and special exercises of the National Contamination Detection and Alarm System (KSWSiA) under the name Joint Patrol 25 are taking place throughout Poland. The exercises involve the Polish Armed Forces, including the Central Center for Contamination Analysis, Military Centers for Preventive Medicine, the State Fire Service, the Police, and Medical Rescue Teams, which jointly carry out scenarios simulating various crisis situations. The aim of the exercises is to improve cooperation between rescue services, medical services, and military units in situations of threat of chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) contamination.

These exercises are of great importance for public safety and to check the readiness of services to act effectively in emergency situations, which is why we are proud that as the Department of Disaster Medicine and Emergency Care at UJCM we could be a part of them.

Dr. Karol Łyziński was responsible for preparing the elements of the medical simulation, which took place in Trzebinia on the premises of the ORLEN Południe S.A. Refinery. The simulation of a terrorist attack using an improvised explosive device containing radioactive material, the so-called “dirty bomb”, included realistic scenarios of providing medical assistance to injured people. The aim of the exercise was to test the ability of the KSWSiA elements to cooperate, the effectiveness of procedures for responding to radiation threats and the coordination of actions of various services in crisis situations. It was also an opportunity to test the equipment and technologies used in such situations.

We would like to thank you for the opportunity to participate and cooperate in these important exercises, which contribute to improving public safety.
